Genesis 9:6

As we remember the Sanctity of life let us pray for the mothers and fathers of aborted babies.

(Healing and forgiveness) (So many regret their decisions and grieve the loss of their child.)

Repent of our national sin.

Nehemiah 1:4 When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. 5  Then I said: “O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands, 6  let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s house, have committed against you. 7  We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.

Why is life sacred? Because God gave us the breath of life and because we are created in His image.

Genesis 2:7 the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Genesis 9:6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.

Our society understands that life is precious. Some think we live in a culture of death; but think with me for a moment; we are a very Pro-Life society

  1. We have the Black Lives Matter and Blue Lives Matter and All Lives Matter crowds

They are all promoting life, they want lives to be saved.

  1. Don’t text and drive – save a life
  2. Organ donation – save a life
  3. Suicide Prevention – save a life

A friend’s 19 old granddaughter committed suicide – no hope in life

Save a life, learn the signs, be an encourager to the depressed.

  1. Animal rights – save the life of an animal

I saw a T-shirt that said, “Be kind to animals or I will kill you”

Animals are protected

It is ok to be a vegetarian, but God is ok with you eating animals also.

Genesis 9:3  Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

  1. Death penalty- 31 states have the death penalty, 19 has banned the death penalty – this has been the trend over the last decade.

Only 28 inmates died last year that was on death row.

Political correctness says we have to save the life of the criminal

Government is to punish the guilty to deter others from killing others.

(People say that if you spank your kids they will learn to be aggressive and abusive – just the opposite is true.  When you spank your kids in love as a method of discipline they will learn to respect authority and rules.)

Hebrews 12:10  Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11  No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

People get confused between the duties of the Government and the responsibilities of the individual Christian. An individual can’t take the law into their own hand but the government is to punish the wrong doer.

Romans 13:1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2  Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3  For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4  For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

Which falls in line with what I read earlier. Genesis 9:6  “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.

The newest push of Political correctness to save lives is Gun control.

  1. Gun control

There is a document entitled: Armor of Light that is coming out soon.  They have found a conservative preacher to begin to push gun control – he says, “You can’t be pro-life and pro-gun.”

You can’t trust yourself to know when to protect your life and take another life. Yes, there are tragedies – Like the father shooting his son coming in through the basement window during school hours.  There are hero stories also – Like last month when an Ohio mom saved her family from 3 armed robbers who broke into her has and was holding her and the kids at gun point.  She escaped, got her gun and started shooting, the robbers ran, one died from his injuries.

So this preacher doesn’t want a mom to protect her family.  This mom is not pro-life because she defended her family.  Would it be more pro-life to let the robbers kill her and her children?

The preacher says, “The gospel begins with God’s love for every human and calls on Christians to be more Christ-like. At no time did Jesus use deadly force. Although he once allowed his disciples to defend themselves with ‘a sword,’ that permission came with a limitation on the number of weapons they could possess.”

Oops!  If Jesus let the disciples have swords, why can’t we have a gun?

Luke 22:36  He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

The gun control crowd like the gay marriage promoters use a false argument.

“Jesus never said.”  Jesus did say something about a sword and He also said something about marriage.

Matthew 19:4  “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5  and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6  So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

Jesus defined who gets married and it has been that way since Creation.

Even if it is not in red letters in the Bible, it is still in the Bible. Who is Jesus, part of the Godhead.  Who wrote the Bible, men were inspired by God the Holy Spirit.  If it is in the Bible, Jesus the same as said it.

  1. Abortion

The only part of our politically correct society that does not promote life is for the baby in the womb.

An abortion advocate wrote this: “Though the term “pro-life” frequently makes the abortion rights-advocating feminist in me cringe, mostly because so-called “pro-life” protestors seem to have no regard for the lives of women who need abortions.”

We have to change the narrative; we have to let the anti-lifers understand that we are for the woman and the baby. Maybe they will never understand us but we must try.

If we acted like the early Christians, we may just convince them we care about everyone.

In Roman when a baby was born, the baby was set at the feet of the father. If he picked up the child, the

boy or girl was legitimized and became part of the family. Babies that were not picked up, perhaps

because they looked weak, were outcast – often taken outside the city to designated places where they

would die of exposure or from wild animals.

The Christians reversed this horrible practice. They went out and brought the babies back, adopting them into their own families, and eventually putting pressure on the government to outlaw the practice.

That is what we are trying to do. Statistics says; “there are up to 36 couples waiting for every one baby placed for adoption”        (http://www.lifenews.com/2012/07/09/thirty-six-couples-wait-for-every-one-baby-who-is-adopted/)

Polls are showing young people are more pro-life than their parents. Several state legislatures have acted to restrict abortion in various ways.

Maybe the Millennial Generation will complete the circle and all of society will be pro-life; even the baby in the womb will be protected.

Life is sacred – Make the most of life, enjoy life and fulfill God’s will.

If we are Pro-Life then we need to be Pro-Eternal Life.

That means we need to protect and save as many lives as possible for Eternity.

It is very sad that my Uncle Ronald was prepared for death but not for life. In 1997 Uncle Ronald prepaid for his funeral, he was 70 years old.  He knew we was going to die but did not know when.  He made preparations for his physical body but he did not make preparations for his spiritual soul.  Funerals with no hope are so sad.

Will you do what you can to help everyone you know make preparations for their eternal life?

Matthew 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Are you prepared?

Jesus died for you – He loves you – Will you surrender your life to Him today.

Will you come believing, come repenting, come ready to be immersed into Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins and the indwelling gift of God the Holy Spirit?
